Portal Pluriverse

from $35.00

This visual was inspired in part by Arundati Roy’s phrase, “pandemics are portals.” It reaches towards how catastrophe is a portal, and how we have inherited ways of surviving and thriving from our ancestors, who created islands of possibility and life in the rough seas of apocalypse. Beyond that, our ancestors helped us remember we are part of something greater than both the island and the sea. This image is imbued with symbolism that points to ancestral wisdoms: the Bodhi & mugwort leaf, Keffiyeh, seven stars (celestial wayfinding), four cardinal directions, lunar cycles (time and place keeping), seed keeping, water rituals, deep listening, intergenerational gathering/protection, lotus (what springs from the mud/hardship), the renewed Zapatista invocation “ a world where all worlds fit,” and others.

The image holds stories of refusal, alchemy of suffering, affirming life and interbeing. And was made for an altar; a sacred anchor, a source of spiritual refuge and communication that fuels steadfastness, patience, insight, and courage.

Approximately 11''x14'' riso print on black paper.
