ECOLOGY OF PRACTICE

Home Sovereignty Studio’s five scales of "HOW" we work and move in the world, through efforts we start, collaborate on, or contribute to. Click on each scale to learn more. (names in parenthesis are reference to people I’ve learned different frameworks from).

our community

THIS WORK MAY RESONATE WITH YOU, IF YOU ARE A PERSON OR COLLECTIVE…

  • who are devotional to life and composting harmful intergenerational patterns & systems.

  • who are weaving the spiritual, political, ecological and social.

  • who are changemakers, creative visionaries, community organizers, people who want to leverage their positions in or outside of institutions (or who want to leave or change existing institutions) to redistribute resources to those most impacted by state sanctioned dispossession.

  • who seek clarity, coherence, and accountability with their values/desires/actions.

  • who are intentional, unconventional, border transgressors and travelers in every way.

  • who are navigating threshold moments and big transitions.

  • who deeply care for (and seek the connections between) land, local & cross border communities.

  • who are committing to living in integrity especially when they are challenged/triggered.

  • They believe bringing holistic strategy, reconciling different aspects of themselves, and integrating fragmented wisdoms (i.e. socially taboo ancestral practices) into their current practices will create necessary change.

  • who aspire to cultivate quantum consciousness.

  • who feel resourced by and belonging in communities who share these values.

  • At times they may feel confusion, lack of coherence, emotional depletion about their purpose and power during this time. They may feel frustrated with the status quo. But they believe they have a unique role to play in transforming this. They seek to excavate their inheritances of blessings and burdens so that they may mindfully contribute to their current context. They are ready to honestly examine current systems and how they are reflected in their inner, interpersonal & outer worlds.

HSS currently works from Mountain & Pacific times, but are open to global collaborations when possible.

OUR VALUES

  • healing and liberation for all beings // dismantling internalized & external oppressive systems.

  • embodiment of interbeing /interconnectedness /internationalism.

  • stoking community creativity.

  • reverence and reciprocity for the sacred; land, water, descendants and ancestors. (some call this animism).

HSS endorses PACBI and resource redistribution to local & global Indigenous Land Back efforts & abolition movements.

OUR VISION

At the core, HSS's purpose is (re)kinning to ourselves, the earth, the stars, breath, the divine, the seen, unseen and mystery realms; to contribute to reconnection and land back movements considering the complexity of diasporic realities.

Another way of saying this is: to cultivate home emotionally, spiritually, psychically, and somatically, in the face of ongoing systemic manipulation, oppression, dispossession & colonial driven climate collapse.

HSS envisions stewarding land to host historically resilient community and qtbipoc sanctuary spaces, and supporting others to do the same in their locales.

HSS envisions supporting international/intercultural healing justice counsels who join together in ceremony, to share resources, integrate notes on our different ancestral wisdoms & contemporary adaptations, to remember, fortify and enact pluriveral sovereignty.
